SXSW Presents: Dogtooth
When Yorgis Lanthimos' Dogtooth stormed the festival circuit earlier this year, "Film of the Year" declarations seemed to ring out from every corner of the blogosphere. Well-earned stripes for sure - this bizarre and utterly disturbing film throws in its lot with Happiness, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Michael Haneke in the fucked-up family portrait stakes.
Described by distributors Kino International as "a hyper-stylized mixture of physical violence and verbal comedy", It's grimly funny, painfully accurate stuff, with a truly unusual approach to language. Think you know your "zombie" from your "telephone"? Think again.
Find out why from tonight, as this brilliant SXSW 2010 Festival Favorite returns to Austin's Alamo Drafthouse Downtown
