Artist development is always a hot topic at SXSW Music. Artists want to develop themselves, businesspeople are always on the hunt, and fans love to find great new artists. In the 2010 SXSW panel "What Becomes A Legend Most" moderator Karen Glauber of HITS explores the topic with an esteemed panel of Leslie Fram, Jonathan Poneman, Lenny Kaye and Andrew W.K.. As the discussion unfolds, we hear about how mythologizing Nirvana can obscure the artistry involved, how the Patti Smith Group originated without a sense of their own developing myth, and how Andrew W.K. feels that collaboration can enhance the original aims of a musician.
