SXSW 2010 Music Panel: Does Rock and Roll Belong in a Museum?
With an amazing amount of rock memorabilia and awesome exhibits, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has undoubtedly been successful. However, despite that fact, the question of legitimacy still persists. Attempting to answer that and other questions on the panel "Does Rock and Roll Belong in a Museum?" were moderator Jim Henke, Chief Curator of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, guitarist Lenny Kaye of the Patti Smith Group, LA Times Pop Critic Ann Powers, artist Miles Seaton of Akron/Family, and VP of Education and Public Programs at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum Lauren Onkey. The initial idea for the museum, whether or not rock and roll is a significant art form, and why Cleveland are all addressed in this video clip. Listen to the podcast of the entire panel here.
