The LP Questionnaire/Pick Three - Maghan Campbell of Hot Panda

hotpanda_0.jpg
I feel like I'm perhaps favoring Canadians this year but come on, like I wasn't going to ask a band called Hot Panda to do these, uh, gooftastic features.

The quirky foursome from Edmonton used to tour in a '77 ambulance that was formerly the ambulance for their town's triple-A baseball team. It finally died and now houses the homeless. Also of note, they used to rehearse in a coffin factory and the girls always beat the boys at pool.

Drummer Maghan Campbell took time out to provide some excellent answers to...

The LP Questionnaire
Name: Maghan Campbell
Pro Wrestling Name: Lovely Cheerleader (???)

1. Pretend you’re 15. Name three songs you'd put on a mix tape for your girlfriend/boyfriend. Ok if I was 15 it'd be 1999, and I was sooo into Radiohead... it probably would have been "Exit Music (for a film)," "Cosmic Dancer" by T-Rex (also going through my glam and sparkles phase), and maybe "You're So Great" by Blur (a not so subtle message).

2. Which evil villain would make the best President? Carmen Sandiego. She could steal all the wonders of the world and make the U.S.A. the ONLY tourist destination on the planet. Thereby fixing the American economy. It's a no-brainer.

3. What was your favorite cartoon as a child? Tough call, but I loved The Raccoons... This great Canadian show (with a killer theme song) about a family of raccoons and some weasels and trying to protect their forest from Cyril Sneer (this evil weasel who was always trying to cut down the trees and pollute the water and stuff).

4. What superpower do you wish you had? Ohhh I wish I could do controlled time travel (but only backwards- I wouldn't want to know the future) just by thinking about it! Oh it'd be so cool! You could check out some sweet dinosaurs, solve all these historic mysteries, pull off a back-to-the-future type adventure, or whatever!

5. What would the title of your autobiography be? Soup-a-doodle (Diary of a Girl)

Pick Three
Serena-Maneesh: Living in Oslo a few years ago I was lucky enough to see these guys a couple of times. Intense wall-of-sound-Sonic-Youthy stuff, with great songs sneaking up out of the noise. Absolutely fantastic live. This was a few years ago so I'm excited to see what these guys are up to now.

The Hounds Below: Jason from the Von Bondies' new outfit, where he sings just like Roy Orbison (I love Roy Orbison).

Duchess Says: An awesome band from Montreal that is actually kind of terrifying. Amazing.
