The LP Questionnaire/Pick Three - Matt Braunger

Matt_Braunger_©_Seth_Olenick_3.jpgIf you've been reading these features for the past few years, or even over the past week, you know I love them comedians. This year's showcases promise to bring the funny and from what I hear the axe-wielding Matt Braunger is one of the ones to watch.

Braunger was born in Chicago, grew up in Portland, OR, went to school in New York, became a comedian in Chicago, and now lives in Los Angeles.

He's appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman, The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien, and was a frozen corpse who came back to life on Pushing Daisies. You can catch him soon on The United States of Tara and on own "Comedy Central Presents" special.

And he, err, once had his toddler head slammed in the back trunk of a '79 Pinto accidentally by his 6'6" tall father.

Mr. Matt has contributed an excellent LPQ/P3 for you today. Peep it, y'all.

The LP Questionnaire
Name: Matt Braunger
Pro Wrestling Name: Napalm Jackhammer

1. Pretend you’re 15. Name three songs you'd put on a mix tape for your girlfriend/boyfriend. Oh, sweet 1991. I'd put Dee-Lite's "Groove is in the Heart," one of the songs on the "slow" side of Boyz II Men's "Motownphilly," and definitely "Around the Way Girl" by LL Cool J.

2. Which evil villain would make the best President? Dr. Doom, of course.

3. What was your favorite cartoon as a child? Popeye, because I wasn't supposed to watch it because it teaches kids that violence solves everything. Well, spinach-fueled violence.

4. What superpower do you wish you had? Teleportation or flying. I'd never be in another airport in my life.

5. What would the title of your autobiography be? Hey Man, I'm Probably Gonna Take Off

Pick Three
Cheap Trick, because it's fucking Cheap Trick.

The Soft Pack, because they played like 15 shows in a day in Los Angeles and I missed them all.

Cool Nutz/Radar Bros (tie) because Cool Nutz and I went to high school together back home in Portland, OR and the Radar Bros because my friend's in that band. Also, they're both great acts.

Thank you ever so much for stopping by. We'll be back for a drive time Pick Three with the Eshak brothers. However, if you're sitting there thinking, "Man, I wish I could read some more of these," you can! Here!

Unbelievably, the Twitter game I started yesterday is still going strong. Check it out (and join in the funz) at #bandmoviemashups. I am fully geeking out over the cleverness of the people. I mean, Malcom XTC... The Passion of the Christopher Cross... come on! Speaking of Twitters, you can follow us @sxsw and @mspark. Oh, and rice krispie cats can be emailed to musicblog@sxsw.com.
